We Have a Kitchen!

We made our weekly pilgrimage to the house and there was so much to see.  This week all vinyl, tile, cabinetry, countertops, trim and railings were installed.  We were also surprised to see that the pillars for the front porch were also done.

Here are some pics in random Blogger order because I'm too tired to mess with moving them around :)

Here are my "What were they thinking" trim pictures
Seriously, did they stutter with the nail gun?

I guess the counter didn't fit so they shoved it into the wall???

DH caught me pointing to the area at the back of the cabinets
where the flooring was cut too short.  PM has already said
that they will add some shoe molding to fill in the spot.

PM was out of town today, so I'm sure he will take care of the trim and countertop issues when he returns.  He has taken all of my concerns very seriously thus far and we will be talking about this on Monday.  Other than the trim issues, we really love how the house is coming along.  The fireplace is unbelievably gorgeous and we couldn't be happier with the way the kitchen is coming together.

Next week will be a bit boring until Friday.  On Monday, the drywallers will be back to do touchups.  Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will be painting the doors, trim and walls.  Friday begins the finishing touches: faucets, fixtures, door handles, etc.  I can't wait to go next week to see how much has been completed.  Now, if someone would only come buy my house and someone else come pack for me, life would be grand!

What a Difference a Few Days Makes!

All of our vinyl flooring and tile were installed Monday and Tuesday.  Today, they are busy installing our stone fireplace.  Thursday will be cabinetry and trim, and Friday will complete the trim.

I haven't seen the house yet this week, but DH was able to get there on lunch today.  So glad he did.  We are so pleased with how everything is coming together.  I can't wait to get there on Friday, and I'm especially looking forward to seeing the kitchen in place.

The Visit That Almost Wasn't

We've made a tradition of heading to the new house after school on Friday as it is the only day that there are no after school activities.  When I checked with our PM yesterday to find out if that was a good time, he said we might not be able to because they would be doing the first coat of primer.  He said he would call midday and update us.  They were able to get started on the primer a little earlier in the day than planned, so we were able to visit.

Next week is going to be a big week.  Monday will start the vinyl and tile flooring, Tuesday/Wednesday will be the stone fireplace and Thursday/Friday will be trim.  We will be making at least one extra trip next week to catch each step of the process.

Here are some pics from today's visit:

Shutters are all up.  Can't wait for porch columns
and our painted front door.

It's hard to see in the picture, but we have an ogee edge
on all the straight runs of the counters.

I forgot to rotate the picture, but here are the doors.
Notice the one at the bottom of the stack has brushed nickel
hinges instead of oil rubbed bronze.

That is one long counter!
Love the archway!

A Garage Full of Goodies!

DH stopped by the house today on lunch to find a semi truck in our driveway unloading a truckful of goodies into our garage!  The remaining shutters have also been put up on the stone.

Drywall finishing is going on this week, and they will prime the house on Friday.  Can't wait to check out all the presents left in our garage!

Stoned!

Stone was installed within the last two days.  PM wasn't able to meet me at the house, so it was the first time that I got to just be in the house.  Drywall has been hung.  Some tape and mud has been done.  PM allowed two weeks for drywall, so he plans to have it primed and first coat of paint by next Friday.  Here are some pics:

No, it isn't snowing in the basement.
That's just all the dust floating in the air!

I absolutely love the stone.  I'm so glad we decided to go with it after initially thinking we'd be happy with just siding.  I'm sure we would have been, but the stone is just beautiful!

Siding and Shutters

The siding is complete except for a small portion over the morning room.  Shutters were also installed today.  This was a pleasant surprise as they had to be reordered and our PM wasn't sure if they would come in in time.

Second Time's a Charm!

The siding is going up today, and this time it is the right color!  I'm so glad we switched to Stone Mountain Clay.  Love it!

Can't wait to see it with the stone!
