Carpet, Laminate and Blue Tape, Oh My!

Our lot was rough graded today.  It was so nice to walk up our concrete driveway and sidewalk today instead of the mud.  Our laminate was installed on Wednesday and the carpet on Thursday.  The drywallers were in doing touch up today.  The contractor that was there Tuesday when we dealt with the mud was there again today.  His job was to mark all the spots that needed to be fixed and to install all the door handles.  Our house looks like a roll of blue tape exploded in it.
My in-laws were in town, so we were able to show them the house.  It was the first time we've taken anyone else through the house, so it was great that they were there.

We extended the laminate floor.  It should have ended at the railing,
but we extended it to the edge of the family room and
included the hallway and the powder room.
We're really happy with the result.

Next Monday, the house will be cleaned top to bottom.  Tuesday will be all of the paint touch ups.  Wednesday, we are meeting with our PM to go over the house as a "pre-walkthrough" walkthrough. He is leaving on vacation the day of our official walkthrough, so he wanted to make sure to go through the house with us beforehand.  Thursday and Friday will be final touch ups and city inspections.  The following Monday is the quality inspection and we will have our walkthrough and close on Wednesday.

    1. Our next visit to the house will be after the cleaning and the paint touch up. I'm hoping that means that the majority of the blue tape will be gone. It will be pretty much finished at that point. Can't wait!

    2. Glad you like it! It looks really nice from the pictures! Have you noticed any noise with it? I saw a youtube video complaining about a crackling noise with it so we're hoping that person just installed it wrong!

    3. Our PM mentioned that possibility yesterday, but we haven't noticed any. There is a little but of "give" to the floor due to the material they use under the floor. I figure the give might soften the landing for the kids when they fall :)

  6. Hi Rachel, I never get updates when people comment back so I apologize that I didn't see this until now!!! I will be posting some more pictures soon. We textured and painted the garage walls so I would like to share that. Turned out really nice. We will have to meet in person soon! Welcome to the neighborhood!
