The Post I've Been Waiting to Write, Some Changes and Non-Standard Requests

We have approval to lift our contingency!!!  While we haven't yet sold our house, we are hopeful that it will sell this spring.  We are meeting with our SR tomorrow to sign the papers to lift the contingency.  We are looking at a mid-May delivery date.  Our SR and loan officer have been fantastic

In other news, we have changed our exterior color selections to Stone Mountain Clay siding, Bucks County stone, Brown shutters, white trim and Fine Wine door.

We also have to sign off on a non-standard request: we are extending the wood laminate flooring to the edge of the stairs, continue through the hall to the study and into the powder room.  Being that we have kids we wanted them to be able to get from the front door to the powder room without walking on the carpet.

We cannot wait to begin building.  It's finally going to happen!

  1. Congrats on moving forward with your build! We are in the same boat - we still have to sell our current house but decided to go ahead and start building. LOVE your selections so far. We are also going with the Stone Mountain Clay, but with black shutters and almond trim.

  2. Yay! Congrats! We chose stone mountain clay siding and fine wine for the door as well :). Our shutters are called Black Watch Green and we have Almond trim. The estimated delivery date is June 1st so we'll be A few weeks behind you. Looking forward to watching your progress! Congrats again :)

  3. Good for you - you must be so excited! I love the Verona even more than my own floor plan, but the salesman and my husband both refused to change us over to the Verona once we were in the process. (jerks - lol)

We did a lot of non standard requests, so do them to your heart's content! It's your house, after all.

    1. We wavered back and forth between the Ravenna and the Verona. There are some aspects of the Ravenna that I like better than the Verona, but the small mudroom area in the Ravenna was one of the things that pushed us over firmly towards the Verona. We always have a traffic jam getting in the house now with five of us, so I really wanted to avoid that in the new house. We are so looking forward to so many things about the Verona. Sorry your husband and sales rep wouldn't change. Don't they know that's a woman's prerogative??? That's why I'll be making a 3rd trip to Rite Rug to ensure that I still like our flooring selections. My husband has refused to go back there :)

  6. Congrats! We have SMC siding, and it looks great, I'm really happy with the color. I also did a non-standard floor so that you could get from the front door to the kitchen/mud room/powder room without walking on the family room carpet and it turned out really well.

    1. The flooring breaks were the one thing I didn't like about the Verona. Then I remembered how you changed yours and asked our SR if we could extend the laminate. Your pics also helped us decide on SMC as we really like your exterior. So, thanks for all the inspiration :)
