Part of the second floor is up with windows and "spacesuit." Pictures are from Tuesday. We are meeting with our PM to "officially" walk through the house Friday afternoon. Framing should be pretty much complete at that point.

Do you know if the access panels will be located in the alcove of the bonus room? I would like them moved into the ceiling of the garage, but have been told they can't do that due to code. My Verona build starts in a few weeks. The wait is painful. I have to live through yours and other Veronas going up :
ReplyDeleteWithout us even asking, our PM informed us that when he builds a Verona, he puts the access panels in the garage ceiling. It wasn't even something we had thought of yet, so we were very pleased that he planned to do this. Also, he is moving the access panel for the soaking tub in the master bath into the closet instead of on the front of the tub surround. Might be something else to consider. We signed our contract in August, so I know all about waiting:) It won't be too much longer for you.
DeleteRachel, can you post or email a picture of the panels in the garage? I want to show my PM. I spoke to the sales rep and they won't even entertain it. I've seen quite a few people state they had no issue moving the panels. Sigh I haven't even started yet and I'm battling :)
DeleteWhen we visit tomorrow, I will check to see if they are in yet. I will take pics and post them for you :)
DeleteThey have not been cut yet in the garage. PM wrote notes on the walls in the bonus room to be sure that they didn't cut the access panels in there.
DeleteThanks for the update on the panels! Next week the fun should begin for me. I've been in limbo while Ryan was still acquiring my lot which wasn't officially available yet. I'm sure there will be lots of new things to worry about but this one is a biggie for me because I really don't want those panels in the bonus room. I actually ended up with the Verona because of that room. I've escalated the issue and supposedly someone is going to call me. I've even gone so far as to contact an inspector in advance who concurs that the local building code does not specifically state where they have to mount those, only that the space is "Accessible."
DeleteAlso looks like most people get the side windows on the morning room. That was on the debate list, but I think it looks much better with the side windows.
ReplyDeleteThe morning room looks awesome with the added natural light, its well worth the money, imo. A great place to start the day. Some people use it as a dinette and some as a patio room, either way, youll love it! --Ericka
DeleteOne of the first "upgrades" we added were the windows. I've seen a few homes without them and I just prefer having the windows all around. We will be using the space as a dinette, so furniture placement was not an issue.
DeleteI like the side windows especially from the outside. I saw a houses without them and the morning room almost looks like a shed hanging off the back of the house when it has no side windows - well at least to me it does...
DeleteWoohoo! Loving it Rachel, I think next to seeing the finished product, this is going to be my favorite part :) --Ericka
ReplyDeleteIt is so amazing! I think we are about a day behind you, so I look at your blog to see what's coming up for me. Can't wait to go out there tomorrow and see all the progress that's been made this week.
DeleteLooks amazing!! And huge! And the roof isn't even on yet! Enjoy your walk thru tomorrow - I look forward to seeing your updates :)
